I'll be the first to admit that I can be a little harsh when it comes to doing something that I don't want to do. But who isn't? It's not entirely because I don't want to do it, but more because I've never heard of it. So that’s what leads me to writing this wonderful post for all of you.
Have you ever heard of Billy Bob Thornton? Or The Boxmasters? Neither have I; and if you have, kudos to you. When I first heard the name of the band, I thought it was gonna be some bluegrass, country loving band. Boy, was I wrong!
I was forced into going to this concert and I put up a fight because it was Wednesday and I had better "teenage" things to do. So I put some black clothing on to match my mood and headed out to see this band.

When we first arrived at the theater, I couldn't help but get excited because the energy around me was intoxicating. I never knew a concert full of older people could be so exhilarating!
We took our seats about five rows away from the stage and waited for the opening act to be over. I can't exactly recall who was opening because they didn't really interest me, but they were okay.
The lights finally dimmed and blue and purple lights flew across the stage as men in grease monkey outfits started walking out onto the stage. Once that bass started playing, I just knew I was gonna love this. I put all my doubts away and rocked out to the foreign songs that were played before me.

I think my favorite part of the band was definitely Billy Bob Thornton's vocals. When I heard him sing, it was like I was transported back in time. The sound of the band was very 50's or 60's rock in my opinion.
However, the music wasn’t the only thing that appealed to me; the commentary was great. Before every song, Thornton would tell a story of where the inspiration for the songs were from and they were usually hilarious and heartfelt. My favorite one was about his old friend who had a wife named ‘Kathy’ (renamed for the sake of the song) who basically didn’t wanna have a threesome, so he wrote a song, my personal favorite right now, called “Kathy Won’t Share.”
Trust me when I say that if you like rock or anything like it, you will love The Boxmasters!

To end the night on a rocking note, I ended up getting three signed picks that they threw out to the crowd! It was an awesome feeling holding those three picks in my ordinary hands. I don't think anything can top this amazing night with my family. I can't wait for the next one!
Above is the cover to their newest album, In Stereo! I encourage all of you to listen to it and show the band some love.
I hope you all enjoyed this post and stay tuned for more great things to come your way. Don't forget to leave a comment and subscribe. I'd love to hear from all of you and what you think of The Boxmasters. Goodbye for now!
P.S: Here are some extra (poor quality) photos from the concert:
